About us

Who We Are

Plainfield United Methodist Church not only has a Youth Group for youth of all ages as well as an Annual VBS program, but we also hold several special services and events throughout the year. We would personally like to invite you to each and every one.

In the spring the Easter Bunny comes on Palm Sunday to read a short story to area children about the real meaning of Easter followed by an Easter Egg Hunt. Then during Holy Week a Maundy Thursday Service is held at which time attendees are given the opportunity to take part in Communion in our own “Upper Room,” an experience one is sure to never forget. A Sunrise Service takes place Easter morning on top of the hill in  the Plainfield Cemetery followed by a breakfast in the Church’s Fellowship Hall.

The summer brings you our Annual Chicken BBQ and “Shades of the Past” Car Show. People come from near and far for our delicious chicken, homemade potato salad and homemade desserts. After eating your meal or while you are waiting, you can enjoy the car show in the park. This event always has Plainfield buzzing. A Rural Life Sunday Service is also held each September at a local farm.

In the winter we have a Christmas Pageant that tells the beautiful story of our Savior’s birth. Our Pastor and the Choir brings us a touching Christmas Eve Candlelight Service just right to close out a year of events.

Our Mission

Plainfield United Methodist Church is a small country church deeply rooted in tradition and family values. Pastor John W Armstrong, who has been with us since 2013, believes in bringing the love of Christ to the people of the church and empowering them to go out “to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

At Plainfield United Methodist Church, we believe in sharing the joy of the Gospel daily, and living a life that embodies the Spirit of Christ. We reach out to share the Gospel by our actions, words, and deeds. We are led to support the community through meeting spiritual needs as well as other needs through local and church missions.
